Complete Your Foreign Language Requirement
Students in the College of Arts and Sciences are required to demonstrate intermediate-level proficiency in a foreign language. The typical sequence of UNCG courses for foreign language is 101, 102, 203, and 204. The College considers successful completion of the 204 course a demonstration of proficiency. Students may place out of one or more courses through a placement test.

Q. English is my second language and/or I am already proficient in a foreign language. Do I need to complete the foreign language requirement?
A. For native speakers of languages other than English, intermediate proficiency in English will fulfill your foreign language requirement. Additionally, you will be asked to demonstrate your ESL status through one of the methods detailed here.
